Cool Season Vegetable Update

It’s not too late to plant a few radishes, onions and garlic. The cabbage, collards and broccoli I planted three weeks ago have more than tripled in size.

I haven’t seen any caterpillars on the plants yet, but I’m beginning to see a few whiteflies. If I can act while the numbers are small, I can keep them from becoming a major problem. A stiff spray with a water hose, will knock off eggs and immature flies that will have difficulty getting back up onto the plant, will likely be the first option. Maybe I’ll get lucky and there won’t be many insects on the plants at all this year.
