Carteret County 4-H Attends Eastern Regional 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament

The Carteret County 4-H Shooting Sports Team made a strong debut at the Eastern Regional 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament on Saturday, August 23, in Columbia, NC. Seven youth from Carteret County participated: Ivy Monroe, Mae Monroe, Carter Becton, Patrick Holloway, Stephen Holloway, James Williams, and Robert Williams.

The team competed against other counties from the Northeast and Southeast 4-H Districts in various disciplines, including rifle, shotgun, and archery. This tournament provided an excellent opportunity for the newly formed team to demonstrate their proficiency and sportsmanship while gaining valuable competition experience.

A standout moment for the tournament was the performance that Robert Williams had in shotgun, that secured him a spot in the upcoming State Tournament. Robert finished 3rd in the individual shotgun category. He will represent Carteret County in the State Tournament that will be held on October 5 at Millstone 4-H Camp and Lentz Hunter Education Range, both located in Ellerbe, NC. We are incredibly proud to have representation at the state level. We wish Robert all the best as he moves on.

Congratulations again to all seven members of the team. Their outstanding performance at the tournament is a point of pride for Carteret County 4-H. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish next!
