Heather Kelejian will be the speaker. Her Bio is:

I am a North Carolina native, growing up in Chapel Hill and Charlotte. Wilmington has been my home for the past 25 years. I developed a love of plants and being outside from a childhood spent with my Grandmother, who had a bountiful garden every year. This has lead me to a career in therapeutic gardening at the Ability Garden. Working with the Ability Garden since 2004, initially as a Master Gardener Volunteer, a Horticultural Therapy Intern and Program Director, I am now the Executive Director. I have an English degree from UNC – Chapel Hill and have pursued graduate studies in both Gerontology and Public Administration. I am a member of the Coastal Compost Council, the Carolinas Horticultural Therapy Network, the Blue Ribbon Health and Wellness Committee and a Board Member of Canines for Service.

The topic will be: Gardening increases physical activity, creates opportunities for socialization and provides place making for community activities. Come see how the Ability Garden makes this wonderful activity accessible for older adults and those living with disabilities. We will look at ways to garden with limited mobility and explore other factors to consider when gardening as you age. The last 15 minutes of the presentation will be left open for questions.
