Spring is on the way, and it’s time to start germinating ideas for your garden and yard.
Join us at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, for a Coastal Native Plants Presentation, hosted by the NC Extension Master Gardener ℠ Volunteers of Carteret County, at the Crystal Coast Civic Center, doors open at 9:30am for a presentation on native plants in our area, how they survive the harsh coastal environment, and why they are important to the ecosystem.
Amy Mead, the N.C. Cooperative Extension Area Natural Resources Agent for Brunswick, Pender, and New Hanover counties, will present “Life on the Coast is Easy? How Native Plants are Built for Life Near the Beach.”
Mead advises residents with issues related to ponds and aquatic weeds, water quality, stormwater, erosion, and native habitat restoration. She is also a certified arborist and is passionate about native trees and proper tree maintenance.
