Carteret County Youth participate in 2023 District and State Presentations

4-H Presentations are a huge part of North Carolina 4-H. It is one of the most successful ways to help a young person learn how to do a public speech. It focuses on members teaching others what they know about a particular project/subject matter. They are sometimes called demonstrations or illustrated talk or a formal speech. District Activity Day was held on Friday, June 16 on the campus of Lenoir Community College. Carteret County had four youth who participated and qualified for the State Presentation Finals.

Ella Hill competed in the 8-10 year old Horse category with her presentation entitled, "Horse Ulcers." She received a Silver medal for her presentation.

Cate Hill Binkley presented "All about an ER Nurse" in the 8-10 year old Careers and Entrepreneurship category. She received a Gold medal.

Catherine Paschall competed in the 11-13 year old Foods and Nutrition category with her presentation, "How to Make Dumplings." She received a Gold medal for her presentation.

Bethany Copeland presented "Sea Turtle Conservation" in the 14-18 year old Fisheries and Aquatics category. She received a Gold medal.

These young ladies were eligible to compete at the State Level. The State competition was held on Saturday, July 22 in Raleigh on the campus of North Carolina State University. Presenting the same speeches, they were again successful at the State level competition.

Congratulations to each of these young ladies. In addition to their medals and ribbons, they will be presented with monetary prizes later in the year.
