Cover Tender Summer Crops

Quite often I’ve heard the saying from long time gardeners that Good Friday is a great time to start planting the summer garden. That may be true. Depending on where you look for information our last spring frost could be anywhere from March 20 to March 31. Be prepared to cover tender summer crops like tomatoes and peppers if the temperature is expected to drop below 40 degrees.

April is a good time to plant those summer vegetable gardens with squash, cucumber, tomato, pepper, and many of the other summer favorites. Keep the new plants or seeds watered and weeded so you can enjoy a bountiful harvest this summer.
