Welcome to another Extension Gardener on the Crystal Coast video, presented by Shawn Banks, County Extension Director and Extension Agent, Agriculture-Horticulture. In this video, see how to limb up a camellia to allow the perennial flowers that are under the plant to get more sunlight.

Shawn will show how to make cuts so the wounds will heal and the plant will stay as healthy as possible. Camellias should be pruned before the end of May or shortly after they bloom but it's not too late to do it now. Spring flowering shrubs should generally be pruned before the middle of July but can be done now as well. Keep in mind, never remove any more than 1/3 of the foliage at any one time.
