The Carteret County Solid Waste Division, in collaboration with Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEP), is encouraging Carteret County residents to dispose of unwanted household hazardous materials in a safe and environmentally conscious way at an upcoming household hazardous waste recycling event.
When: Saturday, October 21, 8 am-1 pm
Where: Carteret County Health Department parking lot, 3820 Bridges Street, Morehead City.
Accepted collection of small quantities include: Cooking oil, automotive fluids (gasoline, used motor oil, anti-freeze), lawn and gardening pesticides, batteries, and paint.
Materials not accepted and prohibited: Infectious waste, solvents, gas cylinders, commercial waste, radioactive waste, ammunition, and explosives.
Staff at the event will provide drive-thru disposal options, allowing participants to remain in their vehicles. This recycling event is exclusively open to Carteret County residents, and proof of residency will be required.
