I took the lawn mower out for the first time since November and mowed down the weeds in the back yard and the winter annual grass in the front side yard. The weed control I applied in January finally killed most of the broadleaf weeds in the main part of the front lawn. I can see where a few escaped, but for the most part I only have a few wild garlic (onions) that needed to be mowed in the main part of the front lawn.
I noticed as I was mowing that the mower blade needs to be sharpened. I’ll need to take care of that before the real grass starts to grow. A sharp blade makes a smoother cut, allowing the grass to wall off that area much quicker and get back to growing. If the grass keeps growing then maybe next fall, I won’t have to apply a lawn weed control product in the middle of the winter.
