Get Planting Fall Vegetables

Even with the heat of the summer, August is a good time to consider planting many of the fall vegetables like beets, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, turnips and rutabaga. These crops generally need 90 days or more to reach maturity. Planting in August and September gives the plants enough time to get big before they need to be harvested.

Yes, it’s hot but if we continue to get rainfall on a regular basis, the rain will keep the plants growing until the temperatures can cool off enough to signal these cool season crops to prepare for harvest. Plant now for a good harvest this fall.
