I'm asking for your help. The Census response rate for Carteret County has been lower than expected but there is still time to make a difference for our community.
We have been asked by Tommy Burns, the County Manager, to alert and encourage the community to complete the Census. If you do not wish to do it online you can also phone 844-330-2020 or return the form that you received in the mail in order to be counted.
Census data determine how more than $675 billion in federal funds are distributed to states and communities each year to support essential state and local programs. For each person counted, states/communities receive nearly $2,000 per year, or $20,000 per decade. State officials use census data to redraw the boundaries of their congressional districts. Census data help businesses, researchers and communities make important decisions that affect new business development, job creation, new roads and funding for school lunches. The results determine how many seats each state gets in the U.S. House of Representatives.
There is still time to help your community and do your part today. Thank you for your action in advance.
