Both native and non-native plants fill a variety of gardens throughout the county that are maintained by the Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteer Association of Carteret County. Plants are selected for their ability to thrive in our coastal environment. Our list of gardens grows, so check back with us for the latest green space information.

Master GardenerSM volunteers are passionate gardeners who are dedicated to learning and sharing research-based information, enhancing their communities through horticulture, and connecting people with the benefits of gardening. After participating in 40 hours of instruction taught by Extension staff and local experts, passing an exam, volunteers then complete a 40-hour internship that supports the educational outreach priorities of their local Extension center.
