Collapse ▲Hopefully, with all the rain we’ve had your lawn has a bright green healthy color and is looking worthy of a nice picnic or maybe a walk to the mailbox barefoot. If not, if it’s been a couple years since a soil sample was taken, now would be a good time to do that.
Taking soil samples every couple of years and keeping a record show how much the pH might be changing and gives an idea of what kind of nutrients might be needed for the plants for the next growing season.
Visit this short video for information on how to take a soil sample and get it ready for you to ship it to the NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, Agronomic Division Soil Testing Section, in Raleigh. Soil sample boxes and forms can be picked up at the following locations. Before visiting a location, you may want to verify that the materials are available.
