Collapse ▲If the weather will cooperate, I plan to start with a short video on winter weed control. I’ve noticed that I have some vetch and chickweed coming up in the edges of my lawn and I would really like to get rid of it before it becomes a huge issue. There are way too many weeds to pull by hand, so an application of broadleaf herbicide will need to be done on a warm winter day for the best absorption results.
I did get rid of most of the wild garlic that was coming up in my lawn last winter by digging it up. However, as I suspected, I didn’t get all the tiny bulbs and I have a few that have come up again this year. There is also the pesky pennywort that never seems to go away. I may add a short segment onto the video about adding a surfactant to the mix to help the water stick to the waxy leaves of these two weeds, so it can be absorbed by the leaves and kill the plants.
I have also noticed a few clumping wild grasses that have started growing in my yard. This is definitely a situation where a shovel will get used to dig up the clump of grass and get rid of it before it has the chance to make more or get larger. This will very likely be a Saturday activity that will need to be done off camera as I will likely get frustrated and flustered trying to get these out of the lawn.
