MISSION To foster a collaborative network of interested stakeholders to reduce food insecurity in Carteret County and to promote healthy eating habits.
FOCUS FOOD WASTE & RECOVERY PROGRAM, COMMUNITY GARDENS PROGRAM, HEALTH & WELLNESS
REDUCING FOOD INSECURITY 21,000 lbs of food saved from landfills & distributed to pantries throughout Carteret County, since 2020. 6,401 lbs of food saved in 2023. 3,420 lbs of food donated during two holiday food drives in 2023.
GARDENING WITH THE PUBLIC •Boys and Girls Club of the Coastal Plain •Community Garden at Beaufort Housing Authority•Creating garden experiences for young gardeners at preschools.
PROMOTING HEALTHY & EQUITABLE FOOD ACCESS
- Annual Sweetpotato Celebration Day in November
- Providing food assistance resources brochures in English and Spanish
- Organizing food donation drives.
